It aids companies with eco-friendly initiatives, consultancy, and practical solutions, emphasizing low-carbon pathways. Through ESG indicators, it guides businesses toward sustainability and supports sustainability reports and environmental compliance. CEED engages in emission accounting, and BRSR frameworks, and drives decarbonization strategies for climate-vulnerable states, offering digital transition roadmaps and promoting renewable energy. It also advises ecosystem restoration, conducts environmental audits, and supports project planning across sectors.

  • Just Transition Programme

The Just Transition programme at CEED aligns with India's net-zero emission target, fostering a narrative of justice, sustainability, and a low-carbon future. Through the Just Transition Resource Centre, it aims to steer an economy that prioritizes fairness and sustainability while creating livelihood opportunities for affected communities. CEED's objectives involve advocating for a forward-looking economy, supporting stakeholders with research and capacity building, creating implementation frameworks for a net-zero future, and fostering strategic communication and networking. The programme focuses on energy transition, clean energy, energy access, power sector reforms, clean cooking, and sustainable mobility to drive this transition towards a more sustainable future.

  • Air Quality Management Programme

CEED's air quality management programme focuses on formulating and executing Clean Air Action Plans under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP). Through research and capacity building, CEED empowers stakeholders and supports enforcement agencies to implement cross-sectoral emission regulations in the Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP). Its objectives include developing emission inventories, studying pollutant sources, and aiding in clean air action plans for cities identified by NCAP/CPCB. CEED also offers capacity building for Government departments and industries, accelerating clean air actions in over 20 cities through the Clean Air Implementation Network (CAIN) in key regions. Its specific programmes include advancing air quality management, emission accounting, remote sensing, data science, governance, and industrial pollution control to improve air quality for all.

  • Circular Economy Programme

CEED promotes a circular economy approach to accelerate the transition to a green economy in the Indo-Gangetic Plain, involving Government, businesses, industries, and civil society. Its objectives include adopting zero waste and circular economy strategies for sustainable management of e-waste, bio-medical waste, and plastics. CEED provides solutions like waste management, inventorization, and audits to reduce inefficiencies. It also conducts public awareness programmes in smart cities and rural areas to phase out single-use plastics and implements Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for zero-waste solutions. The focused programmes revolve around hazardous waste management and tackling plastic pollution, aiming to close the loop for a sustainable world.

  • Climate Action Programme

CEED's Climate Action programme concentrates on integrating climate strategies into decision-making across sectors, conducting advanced scientific research, and networking in the Indo-Gangetic Plain and Central Highland regions. It aims to foster low-carbon energy solutions, understand climate's impact on local socio-economics, assess vulnerability, and analyze environmental changes. Emphasizing climate resilience, CEED promotes research, knowledge sharing, and capacity building across various domains, assisting Government agencies in creating district and local action plans. By engaging stakeholders and advocating citizen science, it simplifies climate-related information for broader participation.
