Smile for All is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to providing education to underprivileged students. Recognizing education as a power Read moreful tool to combat poverty, the mission is rooted in the belief that spreading peace and prosperity in society is achievable through education. The journey began in 2017 with just three kids, and by 2021, the organisation has empowered over 500 children. Registered as Smile for All Society in 2019, it emphasizes child sponsorship as a transformative way to give children better lives and futures. Sponsoring a child through Smile for All is an effective, inspiring, and rewarding method to make a difference in children's lives. Beyond meeting their basic needs, the sponsorship will equip them for a better future. The sponsorship not only impacts the sponsored child but also brings about lasting change in their community, improving the lives of many other vulnerable children. Supported by over 5000 volunteers and operating in India and Bangladesh, Smile for All focuses on increasing literacy globally. A unique initiative, the Happiness Subscription, allows people to sponsor a child's education by giving up a pizza each month. Over 600 Happiness Subscribers consistently receive updates on the child's progress, with a dropout rate of less than 5%. Smile for All sees education as an investment in the future, striving to make a lasting impact on the lives of underprivileged children.

Impact

With the active involvement of 5,534 volunteers and 671 contributors, over 1,231 kids have been sponsored in 24 states over three years.

Programs

  • Smart learning centre Kolkata

    The Smart Learning Centre in Kolkata serves as Smile for All's flagship pilot learning centre, offering enhanced amenities and modern educational methodologies for children residing in the Ahritola slum area.
    At this centre, children receive instruction using contemporary STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) methods. In addition to foundational subjects like Mathematics and English, the children also undergo computer training.
    For young adults, the centre places a strong emphasis on complementing formal education with computer skills development to enhance their employability. To divert children under 14 years of age from engaging in begging or rag picking for quick monetary gains, the centre provides engaging activities and evening study sessions.

  • Jaipur learning centre

    District

    Sheetal, the leader of the Smile for All (SFA) Jaipur chapter, along with dedicated members like Hemraj Singh, is actively involved in providing education to 70 children from the Gadhia Lohar community. The classes are held from 3 PM to 6 PM.

  • Prayagraj learning centre

    In Prayagraj, the Smile for All (SFA) UP team operates two learning centres—one near the Boat Club and the other near Minto Park. Approximately 40 children attend classes daily at Minto Park, while 24 kids participate in classes at the centre near the Boat Club.
    Most of the children are aged between 8 to 10 years, and their parents are employed as labourers in the bamboo industry. The curriculum covers reading and writing in Hindi and English, as well as basic mathematical operations such as number counting, addition, subtraction, and multiplication.

  • Open air learning centre at Jharkhand

    District

    This is an outdoor learning centre in Giridih, and until a more suitable venue is found, education must not cease. Currently, over 300 children attend classes every day. The villages covered are Jamkhokhro, Lalsendih, Gortoli & Bandgar with total number of students of around 320. The topics covered in the sessions include basic concepts, extra activities, sports, with a focus on practical learning on the spot.
